If we’re being honest…life can be really difficult. There are things that happen that we just can’t understand. Loss that is so great. Hurt that is so deep. And at times, a hopelessness that begins to creep in and to ask God why? And how is it possible to get through this? In the song “Honest” we look to the lives of Ruth & Naomi to wrestle with how to move forward in the face of loss and uncertainty. In a moment when all the worldly protections were gone, God gave to them each other. Naomi selflessly tries to send Ruth back home. Ruth selflessly vows to stay saying, “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”Perhaps some of the greatest blessings and lifelines God gives us in the face of hardships are each other. Perhaps we will get though it by looking to the people closest to us, who God is using to bring us to healing and restoration. I hope this song not only encourages you but causes you to reflect on those people in your life who have stood by you, pulled you through, who were willing to “go where you will go” no matter what.
