White and Black Lyrics

Living my life along the forest edge
Being myself has set the path I tread
Many a creature I encounter says,
“Individuality is overrated.”

Displaying my traits always sets me apart
Believing so deeply can be oh so hard
But I will finish all the things I start
Friends and foes may doubt me but they won’t get in my way

Stand back if you wanna make a liar of me
Attack, I’ll fight against homogeny
‘Cause I lack the camouflage to fit in a crowd
And I’m proud to be so white and black

I know it’d be easier to just blend in
If I would hide the stripes that mark my skin
But I’ve never been known for my fashion sense
So monochromes the way to go and that’s just who I am

Stand back if you wanna make a liar of me
Attack, I’ll fight against homogeny
‘Cause I lack the camouflage to fit in a crowd
And I’m proud to be so white and black

The greatest risk in this wildlife
is ambivalence to wrong and right
‘Cause who would I be if I lost myself?
Just another shade of gray

Stand back if you wanna make a liar of me
Attack, I’ll fight against homogeny
‘Cause I lack the camouflage to fit in a crowd
And I’m proud to be so white and black
