Paralyzed
Aryn Michelle 2012
Fingers twitching, but hanging empty
tracing heart shapes into the dust
a fake flower, still and pretty
never dying but never growing much
She’s paralyzed from the heart down, I’m reaching in, she shuts me out
she promised me that she would not shut down,
but she won’t do a thing to change it now
She got burned by a man of indifference
and the dust settles on the floor
and here I am, standing witness
but I can’t fix it, so I’m silent more and more
She’s paralyzed from the heart down, I’m reaching in, she shuts me out
she promised me that she would not shut down,
but she won’t do a thing to change it now
She’s paralyzed from the heart down, reaching in, she shuts me out
trapped at a distance in a prison of doubt,
she lost the keys and doesn’t care if they’re found
and she’ll never see an ending, if she won’t imagine a beginning
She’s paralyzed from the heart down, I’m reaching in, she shuts me out
she promised me that she would not shut down,
but she won’t do a thing to change it now
She’s paralyzed from the heart down, reaching in, she shuts me out
trapped at a distance in a prison of doubt,
she lost the keys and doesn’t care if they’re found
